Singapore

Date: Jan. 1, 2017

Singapore is our cruise’s final destination.  We celebrated first day of 2017 at Jeannette’s birth place with many of her extended family.  Auntie Mabel, our tireless “free” tour guide,  met up with us near the cruise terminal.  Using MRT, we visited some sights and loved ones.

Above, War Memorial for Civilian Victims during Japanese Occupation.

Above the famous Raffles Hotel named after Singapore’s founder, Thomas Raffles.  Below, St. Andrews Anglican Church, the largest Cathedral in Singapore, built entirely by Indian convicts.

We met up with Auntie Janmee for lunch.

Jeannette loves Singaporean hawker food, and Tim too.

After lunch Jeannette and Aunties visited an ailing relative, kids and I dropped by the Botanical Garden.

We encountered a tropical thunderstorm in the park, and Katy loved the warm, pleasant downpour as other visitors sought dry refuge while observing her unusual giddiness in the rain.

We were warmly received by Arthur and rest of the family.

Kids had their own dinner table where much was consumed.

Water fountain and light show afterwards

Inside and outside of the impressive Marina Bay Sands Hotel

Garden by the Bay, and Singapore Flyers Ferris wheel.  After 11pm, we bid our tour guide extraordinaire, Auntie Mabel, good-bye and returned to our ship.
