Geneva

Geneva was our springboard to Swiss Alp because of its airport access. It is a pleasant mid sized town with excellent public transportation, such as the tram above – free for tourists (who stayed in local hotels).  We covered much sights in the 18 hours there.

Lake Geneva is the largest lake in Switzerland, and in the Alps

It boasts the tallest water fountain in the world

Geneva is part of “French” Switzerland and literally a stone throw away from French border.

It has a strong Protestant reform history, John Calvin (of Calvinism) worked here in 1500’s.

CERN, Europe’s foremost Nuclear Physics research organization, is known for its gigantic and world’s largest particle collider.  It’s used to study the creation of Universe.
