2023 Argentina & Chile

Dates: Mar. 30 to Apr. 11, 2023

Dallas

Jeannette and I had a long layover in Dallas and took the opportunity to take in the sights.

Buenos Aires

Our first full day was a Sunday when San Telmo market was in full swing. Evening was occupied by a dinner/Tango show.

Argentina was one of the richest country in early 1900’s and we could see evidence of it in many grand buildings across the city. Below, world’s widest street – Ave 9th July – has 22 lanes and made famous by the celebration erupted after Argentina won the World Cup in 2022.

One of the most famous and beautiful cemeteries in the world – Recoleta. Eva Peron’s tomb was quite ordinary compared to others here.

Perito Moreno Glacier, El Calafate, Argentina

El Calafate is 3 hours flight south of BA and our entry point to Patagonia region.

Perito Moreno Glacier is 90 minutes away and one of the highlights of the trip.

Argentina’s parrilla (grill) restaurants were also a highlight.

Santiago

We crossed the border to Chilean Patagonia by bus and the highlights were narrated in my hiking blog.

Flying north, Santiago was our last stop.

Chile, with exceptions of a few small Caribbean Island nations, is the richest Latin America country by GDP. One could tell by the bustling Santiago downtown and price difference from Argentina.
